O Canada, Je T'Aime Tant - A Poem by Jose Gainza

Today I toast a full breath of fresh air!

Today I toast the blood pumping as I run!

Today I toast the blessed image in my mind

That runs its course and dominates my days,

Dominates my nights and soon to dominate my dreams.

I toast this land a soil for art,

This land a conservatory of song,

This land a gallery for the mastered image,

This land the stone for man in glorious form,

A place for the master quill of drama,

A place for a newborn cinema,

Where I do pen sweet poetry in the name of you.

I love this sanctuary among the freest states of earth,

Though I mourn the liberty it has lost ‘til now,

Though I long for an ideal where men are not chained to one another,

Where men by right can keep the product of their labour,

Where a man’s need does not make claim to the ability of his brother.

Alas, it yet remains among the freest states of earth,

And I am free to create sweet poetry in the name of you.

I am free to celebrate the land where you were born,

And the land which bore me this free to love you,

To love your proficiency in the king of the arts,

For your brave, brilliant, beaming spirit.

I celebrate the opportunities which remain

To improve my station in life, despite the pain

Of remembering some wasted years and hours,

Before I knew what precious fruit this land could bear,

And the delightful taste which can await a deserving man.

I celebrate this land where I can pursue my ambition,

Where I can write an opus of such dramatic heights,

To win a wink or two from the spirits of my holy teachers,

And perhaps a tear or two of love from you, my love.

Where I can place a dream, be it a man, atop a royal mountain,

And build the road to win me my deliverance.

I celebrate this land where I, a man, can love another,

In the holiest, most sacred, carnal manner,

Where I can take you to a man of justice hand in hand,

Your finger in my ring, my finger in your ring,

And return thus home united by contract and by right.

I celebrate this land which gave me birth,

And the mother who chose this nation as oasis,

For it was here I learned to think and love this earth,

And it was here I learned my craft and chose my passion,

It was here I knew of family, and met my friends,

And it was here I fell in love, and here where I met you.

I celebrate this land where I first drank the blessed wine,

And fell in love for fifteen years in seeming bliss,

For I can make a pledge perhaps today,

And vow to never touch a drop of it,

Until I earn to taste it from your precious lips.

I celebrate this land among the freest states of earth,

Which because of you, is the happiest state of earth,

For it was here I did the sweetest thing,

When I told the earth I loved you.

O Canada, je t’aime tant.

Whispers Floating Like a Feather from a Cloud - By Jose Gainza

        I will carry on
Yet as life goes on,
Towards you,
Knowing pain,
Knowing bliss.

You have set me free,
Loving liberty,
With your verse,
Your soul in
Every window.

Each enchanting frame
Is a form to tame
My spirit,
That's sometimes
Too, too wild.

A fickle growling,
Now solely roaring
For the man
At the heights
That is you.

Forgone explosions,
Wasted convulsions
Transforming
To patience...
The real thing.

You special mirror
Contain the power
To disclose
My inner
Secret hopes.

My every train ride,
Motored by the pride
Of your mind,
Passion-fuelled,
Flows with love.

My eyes so witness
Your taunting fitness;
Like magic
Harnessing
My Changing:

From reclusive beast
To your pretty priest,
Earning time,
Creating,
Seducing.

A rose grows within,
Replacing each sin.
I remain
Ever needing
Your sweet kiss.

The Finally Dream - A Poem

Note: this poem was not written with JF in mind; it was actually written with a certain JS in mind. However, my love and heart belongs to neither JF or JS but another....

[Written and Spoken by Jose Gainza]

I love these dreams a-coming new

After four years of loving you,

Which I had hoped for every day,

Every hour here without you,

Every daydream, every sunray,

Every food bite hungry, hungry,

Every picture of you somewhere,

Other eyes touching your beauty,

And I with tear or two to wear.

I resigned to such existence;

You beyond in happy realm.

Was it deluded prescience

Which kept my hope at helm?

And yet each night I went to bed,

And asked my mind to bring you near,

To hold your hand and brush your head,

To cuddle boldly without fear.

Alas, I dreamed of other things,

Defiant mind kept you away,

‘Til I awakened by these stings,

A heart which knows you ne’er did stay...

And you shall never come again...

And as I love another soul,

And see a happiness surrounding,

As opportunity does roll

Amidst a universe enticing,

And as the syllogism argues

For the cause of other minds,

Concluding me to choose

Another heaven for my love...

New dreams of you do reign,

(When all those years I slept in vain).

At last I know the taste you give,

At last I dare to cause you pain,

At last in dream at least—I live.

Occupy Me - A Poem - by Jose Gainza

Written and Spoken by Jose Gainza

Occupy Me

Win a race to own me, run far and away for the dream of me.
Cultivate the land of me, irrigate the dry thirst in me.
Occupy my boundaries and take the plough to me.
Spread your seed over every grain of me, watch me grow.
Watch me feed you, watch me feed your stock, watch me cause your face to glow.

Sit on a chair for me, listen to instruction in the name of me,
Learn the laws of science, mathematics, philosophy,
I am the solitude which you occupy, I am what you will.
Build towers of read books for me, integrate the facts for me.
I am the knowledge which you earn for me, I am your success.
Take new steps and giant leaps for me, invent the things to bring you joy.
I am the process you engage in when you conquer me, I am the earth, I am reality.

Trespass in the name of me, invade, loot me, protest, sing, holler for me.
You are allowed to claim me, you are allowed to be possessive of me.
You are allowed to know what it takes to have me as you will.
You are allowed to exert the effort to give me birth, to trade me.
You are allowed to claim title of me, you are allowed to bank on me.
Occupy me like no one else has a right to, occupy me and I will grant your every wish.

You are the oilman spreading gushing derricks across the expanse of my body.
You are the metalman using the forces of destruction to penetrate for life of me,
I am the metals O so kindled to the point of whistling screams and song,
I am the fibre of mass communication, I am the backbone of transportation, I am the skeleton of cities.
You are the master of the binary bestowing me with the magic tablet of glory.
You are the shaman, the avenger of death, extending the eternity of me,
Curing my sorrow, my grief, my fears, my pain, my agony, my disease, my death.
You are the liberator who defends me from the angels of death, their cuffs and fists upon me.
You are the dancer who elevates the charm of me, who extends in relief my beauty,
Because I am a platform for your joy, for your sorrow, for the majesty of your performance.
You are the paintingman, the wooer of my love and beneficence when you show me the reflection of my beauty.
You are the musicman, commander of the sounds of the territory which you occupy,
How you make toil on me endurable, how you make sorrow an ecstasy, how you make life with me like heaven.
You are the writingman, who can make my occupation the highly interesting, an adventure, a heroism.
You are the man of cinema, perhaps my only source of envy, because you can make it seem I am not needed.
I am your canvass, I am your guitar, I am your tablet, I am that which only you can occupy.

Occupy me, release the treasures of me, defend your right to me, prove your love for me.

THE BEAUTY OF Z

Before there were idylls of Ancients singing your grace,
You were there before men delighting their eyes;
Even in dreams recurring in fluttering traces.
And you branded the lines of the imminent races;
Your face emerging, eternal, with every new sunrise.

Then some genius found the means to paint you
Everywhere, even in the clouds in flux, and ocean waves.
Even in the leaves and branches, the mountain creases.
His caress detained while you dried on canvass.
His hundred rapture portraits too precious not to hide in caves.

And now today in the palm of my hand I see
The harmony of your face displayed on screen,
Stored in this device that beckons you,
That can write you amorous text and send it too,
To the ideal of this copy that I kiss on screen.

He who I call with impatience to return to me—
He who answers with excitement and his tender promise
To soon speed to me with your eager love—
To let those warm brown eyes reflect my holy love,
Brown hair tangled ‘round my fingers as I fiercely kiss.

I Know What I Want (2012 Edition) By Jose Gainza

[The current recording was published August 16, 2012]

I want the lungs of this city exhaling liberty,
Freedom verses sung from the tower tops,
Echoes freely soaring to me with the breeze.
I want men to produce fearless, with ease.
I want men to ascend and not atone.
I want men to unite yet judge alone.

And I want you.

I want to know an emancipating holy truth
To shatter the shackles of faith and doubt;
That the path I walk and each step is right.
I want my logic to lay bare the sight
Of a joy to be found in my work, in life,
On an earth made home despite its strife.

And I want you.

I want a body clean accomplished for you,
For the vantage of me, healed, hardened, renewed,
To endure your charm, wit, and daring,
To develop poise for your words when they sting.
I want to harness the energy of your spirit,
And entitle myself to the universe of your spirit.

And I want you.

I want to stand committed to my soul,
To possess and enrich something mine,
To own and exhibit the beauty of me,
Of a man who merely wishes to be free.
I want the sun to wake us with its luster
From our tower top bed and stage of rapture.

And I want you.

I want the harmony of your luscious face;
Those toffee eyes to add me to their innocence.
I want the lankiness of you to devour,
And the themes you emit to devour.
I want my love to submit to your persistence.
I want this dream to transform into existence.

And I want you.
